Description/Abstract

The purpose of this study was to assess the opinions students have toward science. The participants for the study included 167 seventh grade students in North Georgia. Quantitative data was collected by using the Science Opinion Survey. The survey was administered one time to measure students’ opinions toward science in general. Mean, average, and percentage were calculated for the analysis. The results showed that most of the students believe that science lessons are fun and that science is an important subject; however, these students demonstrate negative opinions towards taking science courses because they think science is boring and the material is uninteresting. These results indicate that the method of delivery of science instruction may need to be modified to accommodate the needs and interests of students. Faculty Adviser: Sanghee Choi.
