Description/Abstract

This presentation discusses the use of podcasting as a tool for advising, as well as a supplemental tool in the classroom. It will cover previous studies on podcasting at other universities, as well as our uses and studies done on podcasts in the Psychology department this year. We have recorded podcasts on many of the various branches of psychology to help advise students on which path they are interested in taking after Graduation. Another way we have used podcasts is along with lectures in Introductory Psychology and Research Methods classes to measure how useful they are to help a student learn more easily and retain knowledge longer. Ultimately the presentation summarizes the pros and cons with podcasting and the most useful and efficient ways we have found to implement them into education at the collegiate level.
