University of North Georgia Special Collections & Archives

The Special Collections and Archives serve as the institutional memory of the university and its predecessors, Gainesville State College, and North Georgia College and State University. In addition, the Special Collections and Archives seeks to collect, arrange, preserve and make accessible collections related to the history of Appalachia, Northeast Georgia and the communities surrounding the university's five campuses.

The University of North Georgia Special Collections & Archives collection on the Nighthawks Open Institutional Repository contains digital copies of materials in the university's physical collections. As historical records, these materials are presented as originally created, without abridgment or exclusions, and may be offensive and uncomfortable to some viewers. The university cannot change past events, but we affirm that UNG’s institutional values and practices emphasize equality, inclusion, and respect for all individuals, and we denounce activity that is inconsistent with those values.
