Description/Abstract
This paper explores the impact of the first wave of transition from state socialism to capitalism (1989-1996) on the "working class" of the Czech Republic. This work attempts to debunk the argument that the "working class" suffered greatly during this early phase of transition by demonstrating a few of the relative gains made.
